Gusto Acquires Mosey
The deal brings automated compliance to more than 400,000 small businesses on Gusto's platform.
Before founding Mosey, Alex Kehayias made the same compliance mistakes almost every first-time founder makes: the wrong lawyer, payroll set up incorrectly, missed tax deadlines. At Stripe, he led Atlas, the product that helps entrepreneurs incorporate — and watched thousands of newly incorporated founders hit the same wall, asking the same question: “Okay, what do I do next?
That question became Mosey, an AI-powered platform that automates state and local business registration, filings, renewals, and ongoing compliance management. The problem is bigger than it looks: businesses with fewer than 50 employees face roughly $14,700 per employee per year in compliance costs, about 20% more than large enterprises with dedicated legal teams, despite small businesses employing nearly half of the U.S. private-sector workforce.
Gusto announced on April 9, 2026 that it has acquired Mosey, folding its compliance automation directly into a payroll and HR platform already used by more than 400,000 small businesses. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
