Coral Care Raises $13M

Founder Jen Wirt built the company after her own daughter waited six months for a first appointment.

When Jen Wirt's oldest daughter was a baby, she waited more than six months for a first early-intervention physical therapy appointment. By the time it came, her daughter had missed milestone after milestone, and the 30-minute, once-a-week session that followed wasn't enough. Wirt supplemented with private therapy, only to run into a maze of out-ofnetwork billing, inconsistent insurance coverage, and mounting bills — a set of problems familiar to any parent who has tried to get a child developmental care in the U.S.

Wirt had already spent years building digital health platforms, including one that facilitated more than 11,000 virtual medical consults and reached over 4 million patients. In 2023, she turned that experience toward the problem she'd lived through directly, founding Coral Care to connect families with licensed speech, occupational, and physical therapists for in-home, insurance-covered visits — typically within two weeks, instead of six months.

Coral Care has now raised a $13 million Series A led by Haymaker Ventures, with FCA Ventures, Peterson Ventures, AlleyCorp, Reach Capital, and Charge Ventures participating. The company has built a network of more than 400 providers and is using the funding to expand into five new markets — Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh — while investing further in the scheduling, docume
