Heron Intelligence, Now Industry's Largest

The combined firm now holds more than 80,000 proprietary interviews across 5,000-plus companies.

Heron Intelligence traces back to 2005, when David Rynecki founded Blue Heron Research Partners on a simple, labor-intensive premise: send former investigative journalists to talk directly to the people who've worked with a company's management, and turn what they learn into research institutional investors could actually use. Over two decades, the firm built an archive of more than 75,000 proprietary interviews across 5,000-plus public and private companies — a level of primary-source depth few research shops attempt.

In March 2026, the firm rebranded as Heron Intelligence, folding its interview archive into what it calls Heron Data Libraries and investing more heavily in AI-enabled research tools. Five months later, on August 25, 2026, Heron Intelligence merged with Paragon Intel, whose ManagementTrack platform — built by former buy-side investors — draws on sixteen data sets, including a proprietary “Earnings Call Evasion Analysis” that flags when executives dodge analyst questions.

The combined firm now holds more than 80,000 proprietary interviews across over 5,000 companies and counts more than 250 investment firms as clients. Nate Singer is CEO and chairman of the merged company; Rynecki continues as founder and president of Blue Heron Research; Paragon co-founders Ty Popplewell and Colby Howard take on president roles across the combined business.
